How this works

What can you expect when you work with me as your doula?

Choosing a doula is not a decision to take lightly. To help you make this choice, read on to learn more about the sessions and how I can support and guide you every step of the way.

That all-important connection

Every mother-doula relationship I develop starts with a no-obligation, in-depth video call. During this conversation we see whether there is a mutual click between you as a mother-to-be, your partner and me as your doula. After all, it is so important that you feel completely safe and at home with your birth team.

If the answer is a resounding YES, we will
dive deep into your world. We will discuss your wishes, fears, beliefs, knowledge of your body and all kinds of practical matters regarding birth. There is one clear goal: to prepare you – and your partner – for the big day.

You will experience that you are in control of your birth and at the same time 'fluid' enough for all the twists and turns that may come.

Birth preparation sessions

We’ll have several prenatal sessions in the comfort of your home to prepare you for birth.

Session 1 focuses on your wishes, fears, and beliefs. During this session, I learn how you respond to certain situations, how I can best support you, and what you need to feel safe and relaxed. Everyone experiences this differently, and these insights ensure that, during labor, you’ll have someone by your side who truly understands you and knows what works for you.

In sessions 2, 3 (and 4)  we’ll cover everything you and your partner need to feel confident and prepared for birth. We’ll explore the four stages of labor, how your body and hormones work during birth, options for pain relief and interventions, and effective ways to cope with contractions. You’ll get practical tools and tips tailored to you, making it a personalized 1:1 birth course.

Together, we’ll practice hands-on comfort techniques, breathing exercises, and useful strategies to support you both during labor. We’ll also discuss postpartum care, newborn basics, and have plenty of time for your questions. To help you feel truly ready, we’ll take a walk through your home to familiarize ourselves with your space — which is helpful even if you’re planning a hospital birth, since labor usually starts at home.

From
38 weeks, I am available 24/7 to be by your side whenever you need me. I’ll stay with you from the moment you wish until your baby is safely in your arms – no matter how long it takes.

Postpartum Support

Once your baby is safely with you, I’ll still be there to support you as much (or little) as you’d like. I can visit you at home to facilitate a loving, belly massage with chamomile wrap, offer breastfeeding support or prepare placenta remedies to help you recover. I’ll also be on hand by phone for the first six weeks – you can call or text any time.

Even after that, you’re not on your own. Many moms keep in touch during the first year whenever they need a listening ear. I want to make sure you and your baby are doing well.

Let's get to know each other

Curious if we’re the right match? Let’s take the first step together. We’ll start with a no-obligation, in-depth video call (and/or an in-person visit if you prefer) to get to know each other. Feel free to reach out whenever you're ready to chat.

Loving and gentle

“Phew, Kim is so loving and gentle during the massage. I really needed this. She also very kindly lets you know that you can say if there’s anything you’d like done differently, and because of her approach, you feel comfortable actually saying it.

Warmth and energy

“The placenta capsules were made with love and care, and you can see that in every detail. They give me love, warmth, and a lot of energy. I would recommend it to everyone.”
